About UsYour hosts Jan de Klerk and Andr? Ferreira warmly welcome you to their boutique homestay and Bed and Breakfast accommodation - Tivoli. Jan and André came to New Plymouth from Cape Town, South Africa in 2001, after Jan was offered a two-year contract at Taranaki Base Hospital – and have never looked back. They purchased their unique Roger Walker designed house in 2005 and in 2011 decided they’d like others to enjoy their beautiful accommodation and established Tivoli Homestay. They now enjoy dual citizenship in South Africa and New Zealand.
Jan specialises in urgent care and holds B.MedSci and MB.ChB degrees from University Pretoria.
André completed a PhD Chemical Pathology degree at University of Stellenbosch and a HDE at the University of Natal.
Jan loves creating things in the kitchen and André loves creating things in the garden. They share their accommodation with their three Pekingese dogs Thula, Ngala & Simba, two African Gray Parrots Zazu & Raka, a number of Rainbow Lorikeets and goldfish in different ponds around the garden.
Both Jan and André love people and are first-class hosts. They have great local knowledge and will share with you the very best of things to do, places to visit and restaurants to dine on your visit to Taranaki.
